A GENEVA MOTOR SHOW’S DEBUT
According to Automotive News – a prominent source of information on the global automotive industry – , the new Plug-in hybrid Bentayga will make its debut next March at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
Bentley has, in fact, recently made this daring decision and its world famous SUV is likely destined to share a powertrain with Porsche’s Panamera hybrid. When the renowned British manufacturer of luxury cars and SUVs decided to expand its lineup with a plug-in hybrid option, in order to keep pace with changing times, the decision was to start with the Bentayga model, to continue with an electrified Continental GT version and, then, with all its other models.
BASED ON THE PORSCHE PANAMERA 4 E-HYBRID
The new powertrain, based on the Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, is – according to the specialized press – a twin-turbocharged 2.9L V6 combined with an electric motor. In the Porsche Panamera, this electrified system produces 462 horsepower and can manage a claimed 48 kilometers of electric-only range.
After the 2018 Geneva Motor Show’s debut, this Bentayga hybrid version should go on sale in the second half of 2018. Estimated approximate price: 200,000 dollars. Then, the British brand will probably also offer a purely electric Bentley to its clients.
POWER, LUXURY AND INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY
The Bentayga Diesel was the first diesel in Bentley’s history and the fastest and most refined luxury diesel ever built. Since its commercial debut, it has represented a jewel in the brand’s crown and it is currently Bentley’s most sought-after vehicle.
As the company often recalls, this elegant SUV was developed “to deliver world-class Bentley performance (…) and it combines practicality, power and luxury with innovative technology.”
Today Bentley goes even further with its new Plug-in hybrid version which will preserve the unique refinement of its interiors: the elegant fluted seat design, the upper cabin trimmed in Eliade (a tactile, technical material), and the rest of the cabin covered with soft trimmed leather.
