The Land Rover Defender will arrive in 2020
The next generation of the Land Rover Defender will have nothing to do with the previous ones. According to rumors, for the off-road icon of the British brand will be adopted an aluminum platform, lighter and in step with the times. The new model, whose debut would be set in 2020, should have a modern style with only a few references to previous generations. Some elements of the bodywork are visible in the spy photos where you see a specimen still covered by rather heavy camouflages: you can see the tall, squared front, the flat roof and the vertical sides. The Land Rover Defender 2020 has started the final phase of development with prototypes equipped with the definitive body that leave the test tracks of the car manufacturer to face the public roads of half the world, from deserts to the polar circle, from mountain roads to traffic more congested cities, to fine-tune all the components.
According to the forecasts, the new Land Rover Defender will have independent wheel suspension and will therefore become more suitable for road use, without losing the off-road vocation that has made a myth the original Defender, built in four generations since 1948 to 2016. Not by chance on the side of the car is the hashtag #4x4xfar, a play on words that can be translated with “by far the best off-road”. The new Land Rover Defender will be equipped with four-cylinder engines already available on other Jaguar-Land Rover cars and will make the “full” of technologies, because in addition to the most modern security systems should also have front cameras that will help the driver to see obstacles hidden by the bonnet (new waiting on the new Range Rover Evoque). In addition to the three- and five-door versions, the seven-seater version should also include the elongated wheelbase, pick-up and tarpaulin.
