The Audi R8 is renewed
Three years after its debut, the second generation of the super sports car R8 is renewed in looks and V10 engines: now they have 570 and 620 hp.
It is the legendary Audi Quattro sport of 1980 that inspired the new style expected at the beginning of 2019 on the Audi R8, which will be on sale with updates for aesthetics, driving behavior and the aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine. The front is especially changing, where there is a wider and more angular mask, as well as larger air inlets on its sides. On the R8 of 2019 also change the front “whisker” with aerodynamic function (it is wider), arrive the new Kemora gray and Ascari blue colors and you can have three style packages for the body, with which to customize the front whisker, the rear extractor and the bulkheads covering the side “bellies”. With the update they make their debut on the Audi R8 three slits above the front grille, already seen on the new A1 and inspired by the Quattro, the coupe became a legend for its repeated affirmations in the rallies.
On request in the Audi R8 edition 2019 you can have the lightened wheels of 20 “(included in the price are 19”), the powerful carboceramic disks and a front stabilizer bar made of aluminum and composite material, which as announced by the German manufacturer save about 2 kg compared to the standard one. There is no need, however, to order the expensive optional brakes to achieve slowdowns to test Gp: the technicians of the German company have worked on electronics and improved the software that controls the stability control system Esp, thanks to which now the R8 stops 1.5 meters before the old model in the “detached” from 100 to 0 km / h and 5 meters earlier in those from 200 to 0 km / h. The sports car is also equipped with improvements to the suspension, a more precise steering and three new driving assistance programs, which allow the rider to better manage the power on dry, wet or snowy roads.
The only engine available for the Audi R8 remains the aspirated petrol of 5.2 liters, mounted behind the driver’s cab (in the central-rear position) to improve weight distribution. The power rises to 30 hp and reaches 570 hp for the 5.2 of the R8 V10 version, which “burns” the 0-100 km / h in 3.4 seconds and reaches 324 km / h, while the more expensive R8 V10 Performance reaches 620 hp (+10 hp) and covers 0-100 km / h in 3.1 seconds, a figure comparable to a rival like the McLaren 570S. The German company has not revealed for the moment where it intervened to get these improvements, or if it has made changes to the gearbox and four-wheel drive. The new features are available for the R8 Coupé and the R8 Spyder.
