New Mercedes-Benz B Class
The new Mercedes-Benz B-Class is one of the protagonists of the Paris Motor Show. The German minivan is renewed following the path traced by the sister Class A, with which it shares the evolution of the platform and the news from the point of view of powertrain and infotainment. Orders in Europe will open next December 3, with deliveries expected from February 2019 at prices yet to be confirmed.
The Mercedes-Benz technicians wanted to combine the typical practicality of the model with a new sporting nature, working both from the point of view of design and technical aspects. The 2.72 meters (+20 mm) wheelbase made it possible to further improve the habitability, while the new cut of the front and the mudguards, the lowering of the roof line and the adoption of wheels up to 19 inches made the set is more dynamic. At the front we find the optical groups with LED daytime running lights, but in option are also offered full LEDs and Multibeam LEDs, as already happened for the A-class. At the rear, the double Led optic units, the black diffuser and the aileron accentu sports image, also contributing to keep the Cx within a value of 0.24, lower than the outgoing model.
A key element is also given by the new driving position: with a lower beltline, totally redesigned dashboard and new seats, the driver sits only 90 mm higher than the A-Class. The new B-Class also adopts a dashboard specific, which confirms the adoption of the dual digital display, the circular ventilation vents and the Mbux infotainment system, but at the same time offers a wider and vertically extended central console, a different treatment of the surfaces around the displays and a different connection with the door panels, which lack the large vertical handles on the A-Class. In addition to the top option with a 10.25-inch dual display and head-up display, you can also choose the basic version with two 7-inch displays “and the intermediate one, with a display of 7 and one of 10.25. The Mbux system uses a real virtual assistant commanded vocally and offers a series of remote functions. the Mercedes Me app and Mercedes Me Connect services, ranging from the Car-To-X system to vehicle tracking, to private car sharing between family members and acquaintances.
