The car manufacturer announced that this new SUV will be bigger than the Stelvio
The future of Mirafiori’s business begins to take shape after the end of the production of the Alfa Romeo MiTo. These rumors are coming from inside the FCA and it seems that to the historic Turin factory will be assigned the production of the already confirmed SUV Alfa Romeo, which will be bigger than the Stelvio. The rumor circulated after the meeting kept by Alfredo Altavilla, head of the FIA region (Europe and Middle East), with the representatives of the trade unions. There was no announcement, but those who attended the meeting reported a completely reassuring attitude and words. Because- obviously- the unrest is not lacking on the part of the unions. It should be remembered that recently the rumor circulated that the model intended to replace the Alfa Romeo MiTo in Mirafiori would be the so-called “Levantina”, ie a second smaller 4×4 compared to the Maserati Levante.
According to the most recent rumors, the new production of a new Alfa Romeo SUV should start in the autumn of 2019. In the meantime, a thousand Mirafiori’s workers have been transferred to the Maserati factory in Grugliasco. In this way, there may be a period of social coverage using the solidarity lay-off fund, which is no longer possible at Mirafiori, since the maximum possible period has already been exhausted in the latter plant. The new Alfa Romeo SUV should be produced on the same assembly line from which the Maserati Levante come out, activating in practice a production system able to alternate the production of the two models according to the demand coming from the market. This production project would need a greater number of employees. We just have to wait for the next year to see this new SUV!
