GASTRONOMY AND TOURISM
Italy has recently experienced several record years for its tourism sector. A steady growth of the number of incoming tourists visiting the country has, therefore, allowed to open new doors, create original possibilities and explore bold new paths.
The nation’s culinary heritage, its incredible wine production along with the unique landscapes and culture Italy offers explain the rapid development over the years of this economic segment.
This sector accounts, in fact, for approximately 10 percent of the country’s GDP and has become a pivotal instrument of growth after several years of economic stagnation.
ITALIAN ENOGASTRONOMIC TOURISM: THE NEW TREND OF THE FUTURE
Italy is known worldwide for being the cradle of an unparalleled culture and history but also for offering one of the most refined food and wine industries. Centuries-old regional gastronomies, traditional recipes, a broad variety of wines, incredible local produce represent a quintessential part of what makes Italy a unique territory and a country that international visitors dream to discover and, then, to return to.
A recent study carried out by Roberta Garibaldi – along with the University of the city of Bergamo, the World Food Travel Association, and with the support of the Touring Club, Ismea Qualivita and Federculture – shows that Italian Enogastronomic tourism recorded, last year, a 30% increase.
“Today it is evident that the passion for great food and wine is influencing a growing number of people around the world while they choose their holiday destination,” explains Roberta Garibaldi.
