The future is coming
The new trend of recent years are electric cars and Ferrari’s company announced its intention to produce them in order to keep up with this recent trend.
Sergio Marchionne, the managing director of the Italian car manufacturers Ferrari and Fiat Chrysler, has always been very skeptical about electric cars.
Indeed, two years ago, he stated that the idea of mounting an electric motor on a Ferrari is “obscene”.
Recently, however, he seems to have changed his mind, after declaring to Bloomberg Television that Ferrari has tested a new petrol hybrid in its circuit near Maranello, in Emilia-Romagna (a north italian region).
In October 2017, Sergio Marchionne had told the US television station CNBC that if we use pollutant sources to feed the battery of electric cars, then “the idea that we are going to save the planet thanks to them is nonsense“.
Sergio Marchionne also stated, during a press conference held in January 2018, that for car companies the investment in electric cars was not worth it.
However, only three months later, things look different: Sergio Marchionne, under pressure for the trend of recent years, is now considering to electrify all or most of the models of high-performance cars.
For that reason, Sergio Marchionne announced that Ferrari’s company is working on cars that will surely show “the full power of electrification“. Anyway, the new hybrid technology cars are launched on the market starting from 2019. So we have to wait for it another year.Furthermore, the Ferrari’s company wants to make its first SUV. And as Sergio Marchionne has previously anticipated, it will be the fastest SUV on the market.
Meanwhile, Bentley, Aston Martin and Jaguar are also getting ready to debut their high performance hybrids. So, all car manufacturers must continue to provide for the needs of their wealthy customers by giving them an alternative to the pioneering Tesla car.

Ferrari, based in Maranello, is a famous italian luxury brand of sports car manufacturer founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1939. However, the first car was produced one year after the founding. The company’s history is full of great success worldwide and the brand went viral also thanks to its continued participation in racing, particularly in Formula One, where -as everyone knows- it is the greater racing team.
