A Comparison Between Two Supercars: Ferrari 488 Pista VS Lamborghini Huracan Performante
There is a niche of supercars reserved for the wealthiest and most demanding customers who want to have the maximum in terms of lightness, speed and performance. Famous car manufacturers such as Ferrari and Lamborghini are aware of that fact.
Indeed, to meet this demand, today there are two special models: the Ferrari 488 Pista and the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, two racing cars that, thanks to a lightening and technical refinement work, bring the driving dynamics of the two V8 and V10 coupés to a higher level. Let’s see how they deal with each other, at least according to the official numbers of both.
The Ferrari 488 Pista puts the most powerful road-going V8 in the history of Maranello, with 720 hp and a weight of just 1,280 kg. The Lamborghini Huracan Performante also arrives from Emilia (where it happened the road test) which responds with the aspirated V10 from 640 hp, four-wheel drive and a dry weight of just under 1,400 kg.
The victory goes to the Ferrari 488 Pista that, although a bit ‘more expensive (the price is not official, but based on some estimates) and has two wheel drive less, is still more powerful with its turbochargers and faster 1.3 seconds in acceleration from 0 to 200 km / h in 7,6 sec. While the Lamborghini Huracan Performante accelerates from 0 to 200 km/h in 8,9 sec. So, the maximum speed of Ferrari 488 Pista is beyond the 340 km/h and the maximum speed of Lamborghini Huracan Performante is beyond the 325 km/h. However, the Lamborghini Huracan Performante has one of the rare aspirated engines left on modern supercars, the V10 which with its song and its thrust justifies the purchase by itself. In short, the nostalgia for the aspirated engine is so great, but the brutal V8 Ferrari is still the best on the market.
