BMW X2 M35i, an incredible SUV
The BMW presents the new sports version of its Sport Activity Coupé: it is the X2 M35i, which becomes part of the M Performance range. Production will start in November, with a debut on the European market expected in March 2019.
Contrary to what happened in the past, the acronym 35i does not indicate the presence of the six-cylinder but identifies a new version of 306 hp and 450 Nm of the four-cylinder 2.0 TwinPower Turbo petrol, combined as standard with the eight-speed automatic transmission Steptronic with dedicated software and to the xDrive all-wheel drive. Thanks to the Launch Control the X3 M35i is able to touch 100 km / h from standstill in 4.9 seconds, while the average consumption is 8.1-8.4 l / 100 km with 185-191 g / km of CO2 (Wltp data recalculated according to the Nedc cycle) according to preliminary data.
To better manage the available power the car is equipped with a new cooling system and the M Sport trim, while the electronically controlled shock absorbers with two selectable setups are available as an option. The M Sport self-locking differential on the front axle is also available for the first time, plus the increased braking system uses 457 mm front discs and 432 mm rear discs and is combined with 19 “or 20” alloy wheels.
The design of the X2 has been modified discreetly for the M35i version. Externally there are the M Sport aerodynamic kit, the two 100 mm exits of the exhaust terminals and the Cerium Gray finish of the air intakes and mirror caps. The same color is also taken from the details of the alloy wheels, while the interior recalls the contents of the M Sport version adding the sports steering wheel with integrated paddles. As an option there are new seats with fabric and Alcantara or Dakota leather upholstery, even perforated. Additional features include the head-up color display, the BMW ConnectedDrive system with the BMW Connect App and the wireless system for using the Apple CarPlay.
