THE GIULIETTA’S FUTURE IS AT STAKE
A little Alfa Romeo jewel with, however, an uncertain future.
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta, a relatively small family car, was officially launched at the March 2010 International Motor Show of Geneva. And this beautiful model immediately became a very sought-after car, especially within the Italian market, nonetheless winning praise and success also in the whole European continent.
At the 2011 European Car of the Year awards, the Giulietta grabbed, in fact, the second place.
Maybe for its immediate success and an internationally loved and incisive advertising campaign, featuring the Hollywood icon, Uma Thurman, the Italian automaker Alfa Romeo produced up to 350 000 Giuliettas from its 2010 official launch until 2017.
However, maybe for its dimensions (the original Giulietta’s model is available only as a small 5-door hatchback), this beautiful vehicle could be today replaced by a new Alfa Romeo star model: a next generation compact SUV.
A NEW COMPACT SUV – THE MAIN ALFA ROMEO’S OBJECTIVE
Today, along with a possible new midsize Sedan, an innovative compact SUV seems to be the main Alfa Romeo’s objective for future years.
The “old” Giulietta is, in fact, considered a performant and loved car essentially for the Italian market, therefore a sort of “national model”, while the Italian company is currently aiming at the creation of a “global product”, capable to seduce drivers all over the world.
AN OFFICIAL LAUNCH IN 2019…
Alfa Romeo is, therefore, thinking of a Sport Utility Vehicle which should be officially launched in 2019 in order to start the international selling process in 2020. The new SUV’s production process should be carried on, as it is currently done for all the other company’s vehicles, in Italy, maybe at the Cassino plant, along with the Giulia and Stelvio models, or, more likely, at the Pomigliano d’Arco car factory, where the FIAT Panda is currently built.
